United Nations Development Programme (Hybrid)

Committee Topic: Sustainable Alternatives for Urbanization

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was formed on November 22, 1965, when the UN General Assembly passed resolution 2029. The resolution amalgamated two pre-existing assistance programmes, namely the United Nations Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance (EPTA) and the United Nations Special Fund, into one: the UNDP. Currently, the UNDP operates in about 170 countries and territories and is largely acknowledged as the UN’s global development network. The UNDP mandate is human development. It focuses on sustainable development, climate change and disaster risk reduction, among others.
